Travelling from one hotel to another is fine, but if you really want to learn more about how normal people live their everyday lives you have to visit the countryside.

Cameroon is often called “Africa in miniature” due to its diverse landscapes that represent the continent’s major climatic zones. Natural features such as white beaches, mountainous areas, tropical rainforests, savannah grasslands and sparse deserts can all be found in this Central African country.

Feeling the Batié Vibes

Batié is a town and commune in the Hauts Plateau division located in the western province of Cameroon. Inhabintants of Batié are farming cabbages widely. Cabbage is well known to combat prostrate cancer. Moisture-retentive soil in Batie area is suitable for growing all kinds of cabbage



Building a house here used to be quite an effort.The blocks for building was made of the same clay soil mixed with water. Hard wood was used as a pillar before the advent iron pods.

The roof style at the entrance of a notable compound would tell you his ranking amoungst nobles. The roofs were thatched. However, you would rarely see that as zinc roofing are now used. The traditional seats are made from taffia palm.
