Champion remains on the throne
A fight for the UFC 270 heavyweight champion of the world between Francis Ngannou and Ciryl Gane took place at Honda Center in Anaheim on Saturday night 22th January.
Francis Ngannou was hampered by knee injuries, which he revealed after the fight. Despite being known as one of the sport's biggest punchers, Francis had to rely on his wrestling and ground game against Gane.
Our beloved champion won by a unanimous decision. After this victory, Ngannou substantially strengthens his position as one of the best fighters ever in the sport.
"Boxing is always in the back of my pocket" said Ngannou after the fight. Undeterred by the injury, Francis manages to beat Ciryl Gane.
Ngannou currently dominates the UFC and his reign is not going to end soon. His ability to adapt as well as to combine different tactics made him unrivaled in Octagon.
Ngannou and Gane have a long history together: They used to be sparring partners back in Paris and Gane's head coach, Fernand Lopez, was Ngannou's former mentor.
